Volunteers Save Lives started as a Facebook page. Yantic Saves Lives after the abrupt closure of Yantic Volunteer Fire Co 1 in Norwich, CT. Yantic, after 179 years was closed on February 10, 2026. The idea was to have a positive place to share stories of the heroes in our town, our valued Volunteers.
Since February, we had another firehouse closed, Taftville.
🚒 Volunteers Save Lives (Formerly Yantic Saves) is a community-led grassroots movement dedicated to protecting, supporting, and advocating for our local volunteer firefighters.
Born out of the community fight to protect the historic Yantic Fire Engine Co. #1, our mission has evolved to champion the vital role that volunteer emergency responders play in keeping our families safe. We believe that public safety thrives when community autonomy, volunteer safety standards, and local heritage are respected.
